How to Volunteer

Currently, we have no open volunteer positions in the library. However, the Friends of the Hutchinson Public Library is accepting volunteers.  If you would like to know when opportunities are available, please sign up for news from the library at www.hutchpl.org.

Memorial Contributions

The library maintains several shelves of new books that would make wonderful tributes to a loved one or friend who has passed away.  Memorial contributions to the Library can be used to purchase these books for the collection.

Bookplates acknowledging the memorial are placed in each book and the family of the deceased is notified of the donation.

You may wish to donate a book to the library in honor of someone.  Whether it is for a birthday, anniversary, or in recognition of some outstanding service, this can be a delightful gift for that person in your life who “has everything”.

For more information, please call (620) 663-5441 ext. 114.

Other Giving

Library users owe a debt of gratitude to the many friends, neighbors, and businesses that support public library services and facilities by donating their volunteer time, money, books and materials to the Hutchinson Public Library.

We encourage you to join them. Donations will be gratefully received and are recognized as charitable donations for federal income tax purposes.  Please consult with your tax advisor for details.

The Hutchinson Public Library welcomes any of the following:

Donations of used books and other materials

Cash Donations

Undesignated gifts are added to the HPL’s general trust.  Designated gifts may be set up within the library’s general trust to provide ongoing support for a subject or an activity of your choosing.   Please contact the Library Director or the Business Manager for more details at (620) 663-5441 ext. 114

Bequests

Designating the Library in your will is a wonderful way to leave a lasting gift to our community.  Major bequests and memorial contributions have helped finance library construction, expansion, and renovation projects as well as to support collections and provide services.  A major bequest can also support programs, strengthen collections, and provide for service beyond the means normally available to the Hutchinson Public Library. If you are interested in more information about this topic, please contact your legal counsel, the Hutchinson Community Foundation, or the Library Director at (620) 663-5441 ext. 110

Dillons Community Rewards

The income generated by memberships, book sales and the Friendshop Book Store
is used to supplement the library’s budget by funding library special projects, programs and activities such as:

and MUCH More!

The Friendshop Book store

Friends operate the Friendshop Book Store located just inside the library’s Main Street entrance. The Shop is stocked with patron donations and the public library’s discards.

Funds taken in at the Friendshop Book Store are used to promote the library and its programs.
