DESCRIPTION:Spice of the Month returns in December with a special twist. \nThere is a bonus spice and extra recipes! \nOur spice of the month is Thyme. The perfect herb for hearty and wholesome soups\, roasts\, and other cozy winter treats. \nExplore new recipes to keep you warm\, happy\, and healthy through the winter season. \nPick up a spice kit at the library through the month of December or until we run out. \n  \nEach Spice kit includes a sample of spices or herbs and recipes selected by staff from library books. Each recipe sheet includes a full recipe\, plus the book title and call number in case you want to check it out for yourself.  \n  \nOur next Spice of the Month will be in February 2026!

SUMMARY:Machine Embroidery Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Visit the Makerspace for a demonstration of our machine-embroidery equipment! This is a two-part workshop where the scheduled event is a presentation-only walkthrough of an embroidery job\, then you can return at your convenience for hands-on experience.  \nWe will be showing an overview of how to digitize a design on the computer\, hoop your fabric and thread the embroidery machine\, customize the embroidery job on the machine\, and stitch-out your custom design. \n\nThere is no cost to attend. No previous experience is required.\nBasic computer and reading skills are required.\nSeats are limited\, but this workshop will be offered regularly. If you can’t attend a scheduled workshop\, please contact us to discuss alternatives.\nThe Makerspace will be closed to other activities during this workshop.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIMPORTANT – PLEASE READ:\n\nYou will need to return later to complete the hands-on portion of the training.\nYoung children must be able to understand written and verbal instructions unaided\, as well as use a desktop computer.\nEach individual attending will need a current Hutchinson Public Library Card. Student library cards are not valid for Makerspace workshops.

Join us on December 20th for the third annual Holiday Cookie Exchange at the Hutchinson Public Library. \nInspired by the many traditions families hold dear during the holiday season\, this event is a celebration of community\, connection\, and the simple joy of sharing something sweet. Bring a batch of your favorite holiday cookies along with the recipe that goes with them to swap with fellow bakers and treat-lovers alike. \nAs we exchange cookies\, we’ll also share the stories and memories that make these recipes special. Whether it’s your grandmother’s ginger snaps or a new twist on a classic favorite\, every cookie has a story and sharing those stories with friends and neighbors brings us all a little closer.  \nEveryone will go home with a box of assorted holiday treats and the warm feeling of belonging that comes from gathering with friends and neighbors. Come share in the joy of the season\, and make this holiday a little sweeter with your community.
