Keep an eye out for special events\, displays\, and activities celebrating this incredible milestone all year long! \nThe Library originally opened on January 12\, 1901. To celebrate\, we’re running a year-long reading program\, starting January 12th! Every time we reach 1\,901 books\, we’ll have a prize drawing. DESCRIPTION:6th-12th graders\, we invite you to share your creativity with your community and enter your work in our Teen Creativity Contest! From October 1st – November 30th\, we are accepting submissions of art (any media)\, photography\, short stories\, poetry\, and performance. SUMMARY:Machine Embroidery Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Visit the Makerspace for a demonstration of our machine-embroidery equipment! This is a two-part workshop where the scheduled event is a presentation-only walkthrough of an embroidery job\, then you can return at your convenience for hands-on experience.  \nWe will be showing an overview of how to digitize a design on the computer\, hoop your fabric and thread the embroidery machine\, customize the embroidery job on the machine\, and stitch-out your custom design. \n\nThere is no cost to attend. No previous experience is required.\nBasic computer and reading skills are required.\nSeats are limited\, but this workshop will be offered regularly. If you can’t attend a scheduled workshop\, please contact us to discuss alternatives.\nThe Makerspace will be closed to other activities during this workshop.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIMPORTANT – PLEASE READ:\n\nYou will need to return later to complete the hands-on portion of the training.\nYoung children must be able to understand written and verbal instructions unaided\, as well as use a desktop computer.\nEach individual attending will need a current Hutchinson Public Library Card. Student library cards are not valid for Makerspace workshops.
