“You” at the Library – Community Mural Project 

This summer, become part of something colorful, creative, and completely unique! Our temporary community mural is all about you—your imagination, your artistry, and the way you see yourself. We want to know what made you who you are and what’s important to you! 

Draw a self-portrait at home, out in the community, or at our library’s drawing station on the second floor, and we will add it to our evolving display. Need a little inspiration? Grab one of our creative prompt sheets to spark your creativity! Submissions will be accepted from June 2 through July 31, 2025. 

This mural is more than just art—it’s a celebration of self-expression, connection, and the vibrant community we share through books, ideas, and creativity. Every face tells a story, and we want to see yours!

Join us in filling our mural wall—big or small, detailed or abstract, your portrait belongs here. The display will be up through August 2025, so don’t miss your chance to be part of this dynamic, ever-growing masterpiece!

We will follow up this project with a closing reception to celebrate where participants can reflect on the project and connect with other contributors. The date is to be decided. 

Submission Guidelines and instructions: 

We’re excited to feature your artwork in our vibrant community mural! To ensure the display is welcoming and inclusive for everyone, please follow these guidelines:

• Size Requirements: Artwork can be any size up to 11 x 14 inches.
• Family-Friendly Content: Keep it fun, creative, and suitable for all ages, No depictions of nudity, violence, drugs, or alcohol. Let’s make this a positive space for self-expression. Submissions that go against library policies won’t be accepted. 
• Mediums & Styles: Feel free to use pencil, ink, paint, collage, digital art, or any other medium that suits your style! Feel free to mix and match!
• Submission Process: Draw your self-portrait at home, out in the community, or use our drawing station on the second floor. Bring it to any service desk and we will add it to the evolving mural in the sunroom. 
• Creative Prompts Available: Need inspiration? Grab a prompt sheet at the library to spark ideas for your portrait!
