Children’s events are in the Children’s Activity Room and no registration is required unless otherwise indicated.  Programs are free.

Recommended ages 3 - 5, 
accompanied by a parent/caregiver who also participates. This program is designed to enhance literacy, social, and motor development skills for young learners. Children and their parent/caregiver will engage together in a mix of stories, songs, rhymes, followed by investigative play and sensory activities. 

S.T.E.A.M. Family Fun
6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
October 1 & November 5 (Now on Tuesday night!)

Families participate in a variety of activities involving Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math!  Each month is a different theme.

Library Sleepover!
Saturday, October 12 Thru Sunday October 13
7:00pm - 8:30am

Get locked in the library for all-night fun! Children and caregivers will have an opportunity to enjoy activities, snacks, and stories-- followed by a sleepover in the children’s services area! For ages 5-12 years old accompanied by an adult, no drop-offs allowed for this event. You must bring your own sleeping bag and pillow.

International Games Day 
November 2, 2:00 pm-5:00 pm
Come play board games or video games and enjoy some snacks! All ages fun for the family! Family games in children’s services, young adult games upstairs.

Winter Make and Take Hot Chocolate Bar
December 13 

School is out, join us for a make andtake program in the auditorium! We will have different crafts to try and you can make your own delicious hot chocolate mix and choose from a variety of toppings! Make sure to stop by our Scholastic Book Fair on its last day, too!

Enjoy a hands-on learning experience while you rotate through 4 different project-based learning stations. Ideal for home school students to connect and learn with others. Recommended for school aged children, Kindergarten through 6th grade.


LEGOS® @ the Library

First Saturday of every month
10:00 am - 12:00 pm 

Children can learn several skills when working with LEGO blocks, including planning, creativity, problem solving and having fun!  We dump thousands of LEGO blocks on the floor and let the kids build and play.

Read to Rover
Second Thursday of Every Month
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

In partnership with Hutchinson Kennel Club Therapy Dogs.
Studies show that children gain confidence when reading to dogs.  Whether your child is a pre-reader, just learning to read, or is a proficient reader, they will enjoy this fun program.  When readers get three punches on their punch card, they get a free book!

Chess Club

Have you ever wondered how to play chess? Or have you been active in your chess club at school? Come play and learn strategies from a chess instructor!

Star Wars Club
3rd Saturdays of the Months October and November

Blast into hyperdrive with the Star Wars Club! Play intergalacticgames, learn with Luke and Leia, enjoy Maz Kanata Crafts, and Rey’s power snacks.

Bilingual Storytime 
4th Saturdays of the Months October and November
10:00 am

This storytime is a great opportunity for families to come enjoy stories, songs and activities in both languages. 


Early Literacy Center
Located in the Children’s area, the Early Literacy Center has toys, games, board books and parenting books to help parents and caregivers teach early literacy through play!    

Children 12 years old and younger can use these computers to access the internet and play educational and early literacy games.
