Are you giving a digital camera to someone this year as a gift? Be sure to pass on this information about two free digital photography workshops at the Hutchinson Public Library. Principal of the Institute of Photography in Dublin, Ireland, Dave McKane will give tips and tricks on using all brands of digital cameras. You may choose between a 6:30 p.m. session on Thursday, December 27 or an afternoon time at 2:00 p.m. on Friday December 28.
Each Digital Photography Workshop will be aimed at those who plan to use their camera on the ‘Auto’ setting. The goal of the workshop is to highlight how the use of the preset buttons present on all digital cameras can be used to get better shots in a wide variety of situations, all without having to learn rocket science. Bearing in mind that the camera will only take a photograph of what you point it at, there will be a strong emphasis in these workshops on composition and use of the rule of thirds. Understanding how to take control of the Auto Focus system to ensure that what you want in focus remains in focus, will be a key part of this section.
Registration is requested and attendees are asked to bring their camera with them, but to make sure it is fully charged. For those with Point & Shoot cameras it might be advisable to bring along the battery charger as well. Sign up online for one 2 hour workshop by visiting the Hutchinson Public Library’s events calendar at http://www.hutchpl.org/programs-a-events/calendar-of-events/monthcalendar/2012/12/- .
