Dave's dusk shots of Kansas and Europe exhibit, "Blue Moments" will be on display in the library auditorium gallery through the month of January, 2013. The public is invited to mix and mingle starting at 6 p.m. and Dave will begin speaking at 6:30 p.m. during this exhibit opening. Refreshments will be served. Dave McKane has been using photography as a creative expression since his teens. As a foreign exchange student from Ireland to Kansas in 1978 his mother gave him money to buy a camera to record his year away from home. He promptly bought a Kodak Tele Ektra 110 Film Camera (it had a two position zoom!) and has had a camera in his hands ever since. Having graduated from a 3 year photography program in the early 80's, Dave was recommended by his photography tutor for a position as a night class photography teacher. He has been teaching photography ever since. His commitment to this creative medium is such that he rarely shoots for commercial gain. Having set up his own photography school, The Institute of Photography, in Dublin, Ireland in 2006, he now finds that he can earn a living from photography without having to take photographs for others. This allows his photography to be purely driven by what he likes and not by what others like. Dave has a keen interest in all things photographic but enjoys a particular penchant for dusk photography, street photography, landscapes, and almost anything abandoned. His work can been seen on his personal Flickr site, http://www.flickr.com/davemckane and on his Dave McKane Arts Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/davemckanearts | ||||||
