To use some features, you identify yourself by logging in. You log in by typing your patron barcode number (library card number) and your password. Your library may allow you to set up a user name for logging in, instead of requiring the barcode number.
Fines and fees will be assessed for late, lost or damaged materials. All materials overdue on an adult or young adult card (13-18 years of age) will accrue fines of .10 per day per item. There is a one day grace period. Children's items checked out on a child's card (0-12 years of age) will not accrue fines. Adult and young adult items checked out on a child's card will accrue fines if the material is returned late.
The link above explains how to access your patron account and look up any fines or fees attached to your record.
Polaris - How to Request a Hold
Patrons may place holds on materials in several ways; including requesting a hold at the circulation desk, by placing a hold at any public access terminal, or placing a hold online with the HPL web site.
We will assist you in finding materials located at other libraries. We will attempt to borrow items located within the conterminous United States, Alaska, and Mexico. We will request photocopies from libraries anywhere in the world. Filling requests may take anywhere from 3 days to 4 weeks, depending upon the location and availability of the item
The Hutchinson Public Library allows you to change your own password, but you must first access your patron account with your library card number and current password. If you forget your new password, library staff cannot recover it but can reset it to the default. Follow these steps to set a new password.
1. Click Patron Account on the menu bar, and log in.
Polaris - How to Renew My Items
Materials may be renewed one time with the exception of magazines and paintings. Items can be renewed by coming to the library, by phone, or by accessing a patron's account through the HPL web site. Renewals are 3 weeks or 1 week depending on the demand for an item.
