How to Volunteer

The Hutchinson Public Library needs volunteer help to make it run as well as it does.  Volunteers save Hutchinson Public Library an estimated $50,000 a year!

Volunteering at the library is also a great way to meet other volunteers, learn new skills, teach others, and be involved in helping our community.

Volunteer opportunities for adults include mending books, indexing and scanning old newspapers, helping with events and in the Library Makerspace, and tutoring.

Younger volunteers (under 18) often need volunteer opportunities to fulfill school or youth organization requirements or to gain work experience.
Many of our youth volunteer opportunities occur in the summer months which is a peak time for the library's Children's Services. We need help with everything from assisting with programs to preparing craft kits to simply getting books back on the shelves.
